Wedding Centerpiece ideas-my colors are red and brown?
November 23, 2009
I would like to use coffee beans somehow
We bought 12" tall glass candle holders, filled it halfway with candy (you can put the beans in), and put in a 6" candle on top. We wrapped the center with a thick ribbon to cover where the two meet. They were really pretty. On each table, the caterer placed the candle in the middle of a small mirror and scattered candy around the candle.
Irish wedding centerpiece ideas?
November 21, 2009
My fiancee and I got engaged in Ireland and are trying to tie the Celtic theme into our wedding. Any idea for centerpieces?? We don’t want anything tacky or precious (no leprechauns dancing on shamrocks). Ideas?
Hi I am from Ireland so IL give you a few suggestions, you dont have to take them up, just ti give ideas
Well you could walk down the isle or have your maids walk down the isle to traditional Irish music or play it in the background of your reception
something like this one;

It is traditional to receive a bell as a gift at an Irish wedding, however I think it would be nice to have a silver bell as a table centerpiece placed on it’s side filled with flowers
Irish Unity candles, usually hold a special mehttp://www.wedthemes.com/images/wedding-unity-candle.jpgssage:

Anyone have snowflake wedding centerpiece ideas?
October 28, 2009
I am getting married in January and I am trying to find centerpiece ideas that incorporate snowflakes. I definatly want something with candles, but not something large and over baring. I also am looking for something that I can make myself, but still looks romantic and elegant. My colors are royal blue and silver. Any ideas?
Find a template for a snowflake that you like.
Cut out a zillion of them in white or blue or silver craft foam (available for cheap at craft and dollar stores). Spray with blue or silver glitter. Float them, with floating candles, in shallow, wide glass bowls of water on each table.
Cut out a large snowflake from a doilie (available cheaply at craft/dollar/discount stores). Set it under a clear glass plate holding candles/tealights.
Do same as above only make it small snowflakes set under glass saucers in groups of 3 with one tealight each.
Discount store vase (plastic)–spray paint it silver. Let dry. Tape paper snowflake cut-outs to the outside. Spray paint blue. Let dry and remove paper cut-outs. Fill with simple flower arrangement. Perhaps with a safe elevated tealight holder in the middle.
You can also just scatter small die-cut snowflakes in the center of the table and set whatever flower/candle arrangement you like right on top of them.
Good luck!
Fall/Autumn wedding centerpiece ideas? I was thinking wrought iron pumpkin candle holder?
October 28, 2009
Does anyone know any good place to find a wrought iron pumpkin candle holder. I’ve seen a bunch on like wedding bios and someone said they sell them at Michaels…but I can’t find them. Any other centerpiece ideas? Here’s the pics I’ve found…

Do you mean like this one?

I think that would look really great, to have the fall leaves in and around the pumpkin with one large candle in the center or several small ones of different sizes & in various fall shades.
*Edit – The candle idea is if you don’t use the lanterns inside the pumpkin, but now that I look at that picture again, I think the matching lantern looks really good!
Here are some mini ones:

Wedding Centerpiece Ideas for a tropical-victorian themed wedding?
October 28, 2009
I’m getting married at a Victorian mansion in August but I wanted to add a tropical flair to it since my fiance and I live in Miami and the wedding (and my family) will be in Indiana. The flowers I am wanting are very expensive so I’m trying to cut down on the cost by eliminating flowers in the centerpieces. Anyone have any ideas of how to make a centerpiece without flowers incorporating the tropical and victorian themes? Thanks!!! (10 for the best answer)
I said Tropical…NOT beachy. I am definately not thinking lei’s and flip flops. I’m definately thinking more elegant. If I wanted a casual wedding I would’ve had it in a park. Just wanted to clarify that… I really appreciate all the suggestions so far!! ![]()
Since you’re getting married in a Victorian mansion, you might consider taking a cue from Victorian exploration of the tropics. Have decorative maps, compasses, or other objects connected to exploration. Use swathes of netting (mosquito?) as tablecloths, table runners, or bows on other items. Add in a few big seashells and a coconut shell or so, and Bob’s your uncle!
Have fun with bringing the two concepts of Victorian and tropical together.
does anyone have any good wedding centerpiece ideas using a pictures of the couple?
October 28, 2009
if you have pictures of something you did like this i could be happy to see them!
How about pictures of the bride and groom throughout the years. You can get a two sided picture frame. Similar to this one: http://www.epictureframes.com/images/Wood_picture_frames/43-158.jpg
Inside the picture frame, put pictures from one particular year say 1984 or 1992. One picture is of the bride during that year and another is of the groom. Make them fun. Maybe one is the bride dressed on on Halloween or one of the groom opening his Christmas presents.
The year can also double as the table name. So, the bride’s immediate family sits at 1984 (say the year the bride was born) or whatever
To add to the tables, you can put the frame on a round mirror or put flower pedals down and votive candles around the picture frames.
I need Wedding Centerpiece Ideas for a red and white wedding!
October 21, 2009
My September wedding planning is done! All except the centerpieces, that is. The wedding is going to be at a beautiful botanical garden with close family only. Then the reception will be held at a different location for all family and friends. We have rented a "house" adjoining a popular Italian restaurant that is on the water and has an "antique-type" feel. The colors of my wedding are red and white. Does anyone have any ideas for simple, inexpensive yet elegant centerpieces?
Go to a thrift shop, flea market, or antique store and purchase all different white vases; you can even use white pitchers. Place the different vases or pitchers on the tables and fill them with red flowers (they don’t have to be roses, gerbera daisies or red carnations will do the trick as well). You can even use silk flowers!
Blush pink and ivory wedding…centerpiece ideas?
October 21, 2009
I’ve decided on a blush pink and ivory wedding. I love the classic look of these two colors together but I’m not sure what to do for the centerpieces. Any ideas? I’m up for anything.
Could you find pretty pink mirrors and put ivory colored candles on them?
Any wedding centerpiece ideas or websites?

Great Wedding Centerpiece Ideas on a Budget
August 29, 2009
A great article that I have come across speaks to the notion of creating affordable wedding centerpieces, i.e. crafting wedding centerpiece ideas on a budget. Table centerpieces are certainly important at many different types of functions from retirement parties to gaudy family reunions, but definitely nowhere near as important than at a wedding! This is no small matter to consider the mood of an occasion and the general theme and colors that have been carefully picked. We have all been at weddings and been very disappointed by the small amount of time and effort that went into creating the centerpieces.
My daughter was recently married in Door County WI. (For those who don’t know about Door County, it is like a smaller version of Long Island. The main difference is that it is surrounded by Lake Michigan instead of the Atlantic Ocean) The wedding reception was held in a vintage 1920’s type lodge with wood cedar ceilings and hand polished wood floors that are original. My wife who is a brilliant decorator and also operates a gift basket on the side put the whole package together and made a delightful candy bar as a focal point of the reception. The guests simply raved about the candy bar which was set up on three long tables with huge hurricane type vases filled with many different types of delectable treats. In designing the wedding decorations and wedding centerpieces, it was important to stay consistent to the chosen wedding theme as well as the size and number of tables, color of the tablecloths, color of wedding attire and the venue’s décor.
Flowers are commonly chosen as wedding centerpieces for their variety, color, fragrance and ease of availability. Choosing flowers which are out of season can become costly and difficult to find. An alternative to using fresh flowers of your choice, you could use silk flowers on their own or mixed with fresh flowers.A lot of the fun in designing a wedding decor comes from one’s ability to be creative and innovative and to use simple yet effective props. You don’t have to be a genius or “professional” either. Take time to look through magazines, perhaps photos taken from other weddings, website images or even check with other wedding venues to see other wedding receptions that are being set up at their venues. There is nothing wrong with borrowing ideas from others because most certainly they have done the same with at least a portion of their own reception plans. If you have settled on a particular venue, then a couple of trips on a saturday to see the finished products might be very helpful!
There are many, many ideas for inexpensive centerpieces using candles. You can use a simple flower arrangement and put a candle in the center. Make sure to choose the candle size so that it is appropriate to the size of the centerpiece. Typical candles can be pillar or votive types. They come in many different sizes and colors. You can also use floater candles where you would place them in small drinking glasses. Fill up the glasses with water and place the candle inside. Using shorter glasses makes it easier to light. A good tip is to have a long-handled Bic type lighter available as it makes quick work and saves on the fingertips! All types of fruits work well and you can vary the colors, aromas, and textures in your choices. Shelf like is obviously one shortcoming that must be carefully planned and arranged for when it comes to fruits. Tropical fruits, including pomegranates cut in half. Buy glass vases or containers for your centerpiece from markets, bargain shops or $2 stores.
Use your imagination for a summer wedding!Mirrors are very creative indeed! There are a number of ideas for inexpensive centerpieces that center around the use of mirrors. One idea would be to take a mirror and place a candle in a glass holder on top of it. The candle or the holder can match the colors of your wedding theme if you can find a matching color.Collect (free) branches, leaves, pine cones, driftwood and spray with gold or silver metallic spray paint. Arrange in the center of the table with a few long lasting tea lights. Other alternatives are ivy, holly and rosemary. Dark table cloths really set this off. An eye catching arrangement!Size matters when it comes to wedding centerpieces. If you make them too large or bulky, it could cut down on the necessary space as well as be a hindrance to guests being able to see each other and communicate. If the meals come with several plates, then that could be akward!Balloon are a great idea for inexpensive centerpieces. You can purchase balloons, ribbon, and then rent a helium tank. After you fill them, make sure to attach a weight to each one so they stay put and don’t float away. You can also scatter confetti or rose petals around the centerpieces.
Here’s another great article that you might enjoy!!
