Some Unique Wedding Centerpiece Ideas

Some Unique Wedding Centerpiece Ideas you may not have thought of…

We scoured the net to come up with some different and practical wedding centerpiece ideas that you can really use!

Love Visually

Build a structure consisting of a bunch of different ornate frames with photos of not only you and your fiancé, but also parents and grandparents whose marriages serve as inspiration for time-tested love.

The Food Pyramid

Fill cylindrical glass vases with fruits and vegetables reflecting your colors. Oranges, lemons, and limes have been done, so try a unique, more contemporary look with mangos or coconuts – or tie it to the season with texture-rich earthy vegetables like husked corn, acorn squash, or artichokes.

Outside Looking In

Give your guests something to really look at with goldfish swimming in aesthetically shaped vases. Consider building interesting mantels or use other species like Siamese fighting fish or white clouds. For their sake, add the water and fish right before the reception and return them to a bigger tank before the party’s over.

Au Natural

Consult Mother Nature for inspiration, and bring the outdoors in. Natural objects like stones, leaves, pine cones, even twigs can add an organic aesthetic to your reception décor. Place in rustic containers or scatter amongst pillar candles for added ambiance.

A Library Look

Stacks of books intricately piled can work in a number of different ways. For sophisticates, choose antique leather-bounds. For a more fun approach, use kitschy romance novels. Or, tie it to your wedding location – if beach-side, go with maritime classics like Moby Dick and The Old Man and the Sea.

Wine-O

Wine bottles and decanters create interesting focal pieces. Turn a wine bottle into a “lamp” by filling it with candle oil and adding a wick. Decorate the base of the bottle with bunches of grapes.

More wedding centerpiece ideas…

To those of you who are wondering whether or not candles should be part of your wedding centerpiece ideas, here is an interesting article that I came across yesterday. It was a survey commissioned by the National Candle Association (yes, there really is a Candle Association). This group states that nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of women polled indicated that candles were present at the most recent wedding they attended.

A partial finding of the survey includes:

  • Nearly half (43 percent) of women indicated candles were lit by the bride or groom during the ceremony.
  • While 37 percent of women said candles were lit on the altar during the ceremony, 6 percent indicated candles were lit down the aisle for decor.

In a small departure from speaking about wedding centerpiece ideas, another interesting article I found was about giving wedding favors to your special guests who helped celebrate your precious wedding day. The ideas for wedding favors are endless, but here are a few that I thought were very interesting and different. And who doesn’t want something unique to give for a long-lasting remembrance??

How about…

  • Go seasonal. Give a gift in the spirit of the season. For February, do Valentine’s chocolates, sunscreen or beach balls for a summer affairs, or plastic pumpkins filled with candy corn for autumn weddings.
  • Donate to charity. Make a donation to charity. Make a donation to your favorite organization in honor of your marriage. Print up a card or note to tell guests about your good deed. (now THAT is really different!!)
  • Watch it bloom. Small plants or tree saplings potted in antique or pretty pots are sure to last long after your wedding day. Other ideas are flower bulbs, packets of seeds, a simple rose or a flower lei at each place setting. Your florist can also design centerpieces that break apart so each guest can take home a flower bouquet or small plant.

Let’s keep the fresh ideas flowing! Marriage is a once-in-a-lifetime event and pre-planning to make it spectacular is what we should be doing!!

What kind of candy can I use for my candy buffet-my colors are burgundy, black and white.?

Would reddish candies look ok with a burgundy wedding? Like red hots, licorice, etc?

Licorice, in black and red. White chocolate, Zero bars. There used to be a candy made with black cherries.
Cherry mash candy bars. Cherry jellies[chuckles was a brand, but they sell them at the Brachs section at the grocery] or red gummy candies.
They used to sell something shaped like a hershey kiss that had white stuff on the outside, I will try to remember what that was. I think it was snow caps, and they came in a theater candy box, like Ike and Mike and Hot Tamales. And speaking of that, they make Hot tamales in a small box, I see thm at trick or treat. .
Brachs nougets are white, and some of them have a red center.
Chocolate covered cherries? White chocolate covered cheries? Starlight mints, and any other red hard candy. Oh, they make raspberry hard candy with soft centers, it’s burgundy, I see them at Xmas.
Use your browser, type in candy. It is popular right now to bring back and sell old fashioned candy. I saw many sites. I was looking for candy from my childhood, for possible gifts to friends. They make those wax bottles candies filled with red stuff, the make Stix, with red powder, red jaw breakers, red Laffy Taffy,

can a wedding arch be used as a decoration for a 20th anniversary party?

I am having a 20th anniversary party for my parents and besides table centerpieces I wanted other decor such as an arch with tulle and flowers to set behind the small round cake table. Are arches only used for weddings or could it be used at a anniversary party? Thanks!

Yes it could be used at an anniversary party. Maybe they could even renew their vows? That would be special.
